Communist Party general secretary Robert Griffiths issued the following statement at 7.50 am today (June 9):
The Communist Party has welcomed Labour’s advances in the opinion polls but warns that 18 months of scurrilous attacks on Jeremy Corbyn from the mass media and within his own party have left Labour with a mountain still to climb.
‘Recent opinion polls indicate that the Tory lead over Labour is narrowing and that the General Election result is not a foregone conclusion’, Nick Wright told the Communist Party’s political committee on Wednesday evening.

The Communist Party is not entirely surprised by the announcement to hold a General Election on June 8, never having taken Tory leaders at their word and aware that the so-called ‘fixed term’ Parliament Act is bogus.
Given the choice in the US presidential election between a neoliberal, banker-oriented, imperialist warmonger or Trump’s demagogic promises to regenerate industry, create jobs, end crime and ‘drain the swamp’ of corruption, nobody should be too surprised at the result, Bill Greenshields told the Communist Party of Britain’s political committee on Wednesday evening (November 9).
